Partner ILANA B. OLMAN has worked for McIntosh Sawran & Cartaya, P.A. since 2011, where she is assigned to the Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Division of the firm under the direction of Shareholder Douglas M. McIntosh. Her primary practice has covered a broad range of insurance coverage and bad faith claims and lawsuits, where she has represented insurers in complex insurance coverage disputes relating to commercial general liability, property, errors and omissions, directors and officers, umbrella and excess policies, as well as other specialty insurance products. Ms. Olman has represented insurers in numerous coverage matters involving bodily injury and property damage, contamination clean-up, environmental remediation, product liability, professional liability, construction defect, the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) and bad faith/extra-contractual claims.
In addition to insurance coverage and bad faith, Ms. Olman has also litigated a wide variety of cases, involving first party property claims, wrongful death, civil theft, aviation law, educational and religious institutions, plaintiff personal injury and professional malpractice, including disciplinary matters involving the Florida Bar.
Ms. Olman is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Broward County Bar Association and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers. She is admitted to practice law in Florida, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. Ms. Olman is a member of the firm’s Charitable Events Committee, where she assists with organizing charitable events and fundraisers throughout the year.
Ms. Olman graduated magna cum laude, with honors from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing in 2010, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Ms. Olman obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2013. While attending law school at NSU, Ms. Olman received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for outstanding grade in Civil Pre-Trial Practice. Prior to joining the firm as a law clerk and later as an associate attorney, she interned at the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida for the Honorable Marina Garcia-Wood.
