The McIntosh Sawran & Cartaya, P.A. medical malpractice defense group employs a team approach to protect our healthcare industry clients’ professional reputations and licenses. We recognize the damage that unfounded and improperly handled allegations can do to an institution or to a medical practitioner’s reputation and career. From the beginning of any case, we partner with our clients to investigate and document all aspects of the events from which the claims arise. We also work with clients to manage sensitive communications and negotiations with patients, their families and their legal counsel, to properly handle staffing or administrative issues, and to address any concerns related to the media or the public.
Our clients have included:
Our collaborative approach is led by Managing Shareholder James C. Sawran, a 33-year veteran of the healthcare litigation field. Mr. Sawran has authored and co-authored a number of articles addressing legal issues related to the medical field, has lectured extensively on medical malpractice and related topics, and has been appointed by the Florida Bar to serve on the Board of Governors of the Florida Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association. Among other professional accomplishments, he has served as lead trial counsel to one of the largest hospital corporations doing business in Florida.
For each matter we handle, we assign a core team of two attorneys, a certified legal assistant, and a legal nurse consultant with extensive practice experience in the field. We engage other experts based on the subject matter of a given case. Each team has access to a full range of technology and resources to handle cases efficiently and persuasively.
Our clients can expect regular communication from their teams and unparalleled responsiveness: as in all legal matters the firm undertakes, our working philosophy centers on accessibility and client service.
Our attorneys have had success representing a wide range of medical professionals and institutions, defending against claims of medical negligence resulting in patient injury or wrongful death.
